Water Damage Building Insurance Claim Process

At MPL Ltd – Water Damage London, we manage every aspect of your water damage insurance claim—from initial inspection to full restoration—ensuring a smooth, stress-free process with expert guidance every step of the way.

STAGE 1:
Initial Contact & Assessment

  • Initial Contact
When you first reach out, we collect your contact details, property information, insurer details, and a brief description of the water damage. We then schedule a property survey.
  • Hazard Analysis
During our first site visit, we prioritise the health and safety of occupants and workers by identifying potential hazards, assessing associated risks, and taking appropriate safety measures.
  • Inspect, Document & Quote

Following a full inspection, we prepare:
    - A detailed Scope of Works
    - A comprehensive photo report with measurements
    - A formal quotation for restoration

This is sent to your insurer within 48 hours of inspection.
  • Meeting with Loss Adjuster
We coordinate with your insurer to schedule a site visit with their loss adjuster, ensuring our surveyor is present to agree on the scope of works and costs. Once approved, we move forward.

STAGE 2:
Water Damage Mitigation

  • Emergency Works
With written authorisation from the insurer, we begin emergency mitigation works, including:

    - Water extraction using pumps or vacuums
    - Protecting contents by relocating furniture and controlling humidity to prevent secondary damage
  • Identify Damaged Materials & Demolition
We identify water-damaged materials that pose structural or health risks. Non-salvageable items are safely removed.

If additional damage is uncovered, we update the quote and liaise with the insurer for further authorisation.
  • Cleaning & Disinfection
Using EPA-approved disinfectants and specialised vacuums, we clean and sanitise the area, eliminating contaminants, bacteria, viruses, and mould.
  • Drying & Dehumidifying
Proper drying is essential to prevent long-term damage.

    We use:
    - Air movers to promote airflow and evaporation
    - Temperature and humidity control (ideal range: 21–32°C, <60% RH)
    - Specialist dehumidifiers based on material type and environment:
       - Desiccant for bricks and hardwood
       - Refrigerant for plasterboard and softwood

We regularly monitor moisture levels and surface temperatures using IICRC S500-approved tools until drying goals are met.
Once confirmed, we issue a Certificate of Dryness.

STAGE 3:
Restoration to Pre-Damage Condition

We restore your property to its pre-water damage condition with care and precision. This may involve:

  • Structural repairs
  • Plastering, painting, flooring, carpentry
  • Plumbing, electrical, or decorative work

Our in-house construction team and trusted contractors are professional, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality results with minimal disruption.

STAGE 4:
Certificates & Invoice

Upon completion, we provide:

  • Certificate of Dryness
  • Any required trade certificates (e.g. electrical, gas)
  • Final invoice sent directly to your insurer

You only pay your insurance excess—nothing more
